West Coast IPA
This IPA is a hop lover's dream! Big additions of citra and mosaic hops for a piney and citrusy aroma and flavor are supported by a light malt body so that the hops are the true stars of this flavor wave! Named for Mary Ann Hawkins, champion surfer and Hollywood stuntwoman.

A: Pours a clear medium to dark copper-ish amber in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising fairly quickly from the bottom of the glass and moderate pale golden yellow + honey colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall sudsy foamy white head that reduces to a large patch of mottled very thin film covering the entire surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Just shy of moderate aromas of citrus/grapefruit pith, citrus/tangerine zest, pine, and herbal hops over the top of light aromas of toasted + caramel malts with a hint of caramel sweetness.
T: Upfront there is a light to moderate flavor of toasted + caramel malts with a hint of caramel sweetness. That is followed by just shy of moderate flavors of citrus/grapefruit pith, citrus/tangerine zest, pine, and herbal hops which impart a light to moderate amount of aggressive bitterness which slowly fades away.
M: Just shy of medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly thin/watery with hints of dryness in the finish.
O: Drinks fairly easily but I was just not that excited about this beer - maybe it was the lighter than average flavors/aromas for a West Coast IPA or maybe it was the thinner mouthfeel. Flavors and aromas are good for the style just a little subdued.
