Poured from 12oz can into a clear mug. The brewery just says this is a “dark lager”, so I’ve entered it here as a Munich dunkel. The label says “Awkward Encounter” (without the final s) but all the brewery’s materials call it Awkward Encounters, so that’s what I’m going with.
Appearance: dark brown hue with just a dash of haze to the body and a finger of frothy tan foam.
Smell: nutty, bready, caramelly malt aroma. There’s a little bit of a yeastiness here as well; not totally clean, but not too bad overall.
Taste: yeasty, caramelly, and bready. Again, not bad, but perhaps a little muddied.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: in general a decent enough dark lager, if not exceptional.
