A 330ml bottle with a BB of Aug 2017. Received recently from a webshop. Described on the label as a farmhouse beer flavoured with rosemary and thyme.
A: Poured into a tulip. A clear amber colour with light carbonation. Forms a small head of white foam that dissipates almost immediately. Inauspicious.
S: Aroma of fruity yeast with hints of spice, earthiness, coriander, faint herbs and grainy malt. Lacking in depth - not great.
T: Tastes of watery malt with hints of fruity yeast esters, husky grain, earthiness, light spice, subtle herbal notes and stewed leaves. A moderate and somewhat harsh bitterness upon swallowing. Unimpressive.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth and insubstantial, with very soft carbonation and a watery body. Seems almost flat. Aftertaste of earthy, fruity yeast, grain and harsh stewed leaves.
O: Not good at all. I can't tell if there is something wrong with the bottle, or it's old or it's just a bad beer. Lacklustre looks are followed by a bland, yeasty aroma and flavour. The expected herbal notes barely register. Thin, insubstantial body. While I'm prepared to give this brewery the benefit of the doubt, this is not an enjoyable beer. Caveat emptor.
