On tap at brewery:
(Presuming this is based off the same base as the "Hoppy" version)
Pours a somewhat ugly cloud of burnt orange. A nice thick white rim provides vides a brief but nice display of fading lace.
Nose is actually fairly citrusy, orange mainly. It's more prominent than in the Hoppy version of this IPA's nose. The vegetal pepper aspect is in there as well, peeking out if you look for it.
The beer's taste is a strange mix of juiciness (mostly citrus, but a hint of tropical exists) and pepper. Initially the juice comes, then the pepper skin. In a cold beer this clashes a tad. Once it warms, it seems to work. The heat of the peppers builds with sips, as I feel it should. It starts in the background but eventually grabs the attention of my entire palate.
This is definitely a hybrid pale ale/spiced beer but I feel the peppery bite grew nicely and became strong enough to throw this in the chile beer category, even if the pale ale is the base.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
