This Mexican Vienna Lager, Mexican due to the use of flaked maize, gives you a hint of salt up front, settling into the lime flavor with the heat of peppers in the back of your palate. The zest of lime and salt combined with the heat of the chile árbol makes this beer a savory treat.

On tap at brewery:
This beer could be a spiced beer vs a Vienna lager, and the brewery is right to note the heat in this one to possible unsuspecting customers.
This has a nice deep amber red clay look of many a Vienna. It's clarity is obvious, and the carbonation sustains a thin collar but not too much else.
I get the lime, salt, and a green pepper flesh note that has a hint of sweetness to it. This matches the added ingredients, minus the spiciness. The malts of this Vienna add an interesting toasted bread aspect that plays in the background, keeping this from seeming more like a Gose. On the down side, there is a perfumy soap impression that i can't seem to ignore.
Taste follows, with the salt and lime opening this beer with a slightly soapy flavor. The heat from the chiles comes on fairly strong, but does not cross that threshold into killing my palate, a moderate sharp biting spice. Pepper flesh adds a vegetal aspect to the back of the taste.
I do still get a Mexican lager with lime as the base for the chile to springboard off of. The salt is an interesting choice, adding some softness of feel. But I still wonder if they should cut the amount or remove it all together to take this up a notch and perhaps ditch the soapy note.
