The lactose comes through underneath the pumpkin spices. A tad sweet, but there’s a nearing roasty almost coffee aspect that counters that. Overall, a near, but not really, dessert pumpkin ale.
Dark brown, nice beige collar, lacing light. Nose has milk sugar, nutmeg, and generic pumpkin pie spice. Taste brings a porter together with a pumpkin ale, the former opening the beer and the latter finishing it. There’s a pumpkin tang underneath the “milk porter” impression of this beer. Little sticky sweet feel, but not extreme.
A nice spice beer with an aspect of pumpkin and definitely speaks to the fall season. Vaguely reminiscent of Southern Tier’s coffee Pumking, but with lactose (and lower ABV).
