Canned 10/23/23. “Blind Melon“ stamped on the bottom of the can
With Origin being temporarily closed (they share a building), I decided I would give Buttonwoods another shot. I only had one beer from them before and I wasn’t really a fan, but that was a while ago and I’ve heard they actually make some great stuff. This one sounds really interesting actually, a NEIPA with zero IBUs. Let’s crack it open and see what we’re working with
Pours a hazy orange gold with 2 fingers of soapy off white head that slowly fades to a cap and leaves decent lacing
The nose is pretty balanced, and there’s a nice tangy vibe to it. I’m picking up on aromas of lime zest, white grape, bready malt, pineapple juice, grassy hops, white pepper, tangerine, and overripe cantaloupe
It’s not quite as defined in taste but I still dig it. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting orange juice, pineapple juice, grassy hops, bready malt, papaya, light weed, and tangerine. The swallow brings notes of orange juice, overripe cantaloupe, papaya, doughy nalt, mango skin, dank weed, and a touch of vanilla
A medium body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a smooth beer. Finishes neutral with a very gentle bitterness
While the lack of IBUs hurts the drinkability a bit, this is still a damn good beer. Definitely an interesting experiment at the very least. This has me excited to actually dig into their stuff again

16oz. Pour served in a solo cup. Pours a hazy orange with a soft, off-white head that disperses towards the shoulders and leaves a textured froth across the surface. Nose is lovely - a big hit of tangerines. Taste consistent with nose with the addition of soft melon notes towards the finish. Mouthfeel is light-medium n body with an even carbonation. This beer is too crushable at 7.5%

On draft at Buttonwoods. Even took back a growler. Pours a hazy golden straw yellow body, one finger white head, short retention, splotchy lacing. Smell is tropical fruit, mineral yeast, grapefruit and a bit of citrus. Reasonably juicy and sweet. Light caramel. Follows on the palate, with a medium body and minimal bitterness. Mild sweetness gives way to the hops. It's not Treehouse, but this is a nicely executed NE DIPA with a nice hop bite to it.
