Pours black with finger and a half of dark khaki foam. Head retention is fair. Aroma is toasty, roasty, nutty malts, thick medium-dark roast coffee and a touch of char. It leans towards sweet, but grows more bitter as it warms. Flavor profile is roasty, toasty, nutty malts with thick medium-dark, oily coffee. A little char, smoke, and caramel add notes of bitterness, darkness and sweetness respectively, with the net balance being lightly bitter. That bitterness grows as it warms. Strong, impressionable notes. Mouth feel is thick with a lightly fuzzy texture that carries just a hint of silt. Overall, strong and impressionable with heavy coffee. Well crafted and very enjoyable.
Served in a 15.5oz Speigalau tulip from a 16oz can. Disclaimer: I'm a little biased in that I thoroughly enjoy coffee.
