Canned 12/11/23. “Tis the season” stamped on the bottom of the can
This is another one I grabbed at Buttonwoods recently. While I know that they’re known for their classic styles, I think this is the closest to a classic I’ve had from them. Let’s crack it open and find out what it’s all about
Pours completely pitch black with 3 fingers of frothy tan head that slowly fades to a thin cap and leaves decent lacing
It’s pretty standard stuff in the nose but damn good. I’m picking up on aromas of biscuity malt, milk chocolate, dark toast, brown sugar, light roast coffee, black pepper, and light raisin
In taste it’s a lot more of the same but that’s fine by me. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting dark toast, cocoa powder, brown sugar, vanilla bean, medium roast coffee, raisin, and charred malt. The swallow brings notes of dark toast, toffee, cocoa powder, raisin, medium roast coffee, herbal hops, light vanilla, and black cherry
A medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a crisp beer. Finishes mostly dry and refreshing
This is just a good take on a classic style
