Coopers getting in on the mid strength low carb lager game. I guess if you can't beat em, join em.
Vessel: 375ml can. Silver and orange label. Purchased at Aldi Bankstown Airport, Sydney in January. Drunk about a week later. Best Before 4 Aug 24.
Appearance: Light Golden, fully filtered, thin 2ish cm white head that's disappearing to a thin ring before disappearing altogether. Heavily carbonated. Champagne-esque. Looks generic lager like.
Aroma: Sweet malt, dusty Pride of Ringwood hop aroma which let's a slight citric, slight sweet candied bannana aroma which may be from the Coopers yeast. Smells better than your standard Aussie lager, but the Pride of Ringwood hops reminds you this is unmistakenly Australian.
Taste: Sweet biscuity malt with a sweet candied bannana flavour. Slight floral Pride of Ringwood flavour. Slight mineral water flavour - expected with a light/mid strength beer. Finishes quite dry without being chemically. Pretty bland however.
Feel: Thin, fizzy dry and watery. . It's a 3.5% beer. Can't expect miracles.
Overall: As far as midstrength lagers go, it's better than Carlton Mid, and XXXX Gold. But that's a low bar.
An acceptable option if you're being responsible and there's no better options.
