Blend of Paw Paw and the contents of Barrel #11. Barrel #11 consisted of a blend of Afterthought Ale, the base Medusa & Mosaic beer that led to Barrel #21, and a version of Walnut Grove Twisted Trellis that was then refermented in an oak barrel with the Afterthought culture. The ratio was roughly one part Paw Paw to two parts Barrel #11.

I have enjoyed afterthought's adventures into gin and fruits, but I missed some of the vibrant funk some of their earlier work had. Then I had this one! Oh yeah, we are back baby! Bright yellow body with a white cap, be sure to leave the yeast in the bottle. Smell has that funkiness to it, oak backing, with pawpaw, lemon, melon rind, apricot, peach, mango, hay, and flowers. Taste has extreme contrasts that push the boundaries of the complimentary zone in an artfully bold way: oak sets up the fruits, now tart along with ripe, flowers and hay give way to a satisfyingly funky finish. Super bright, funky, lightly tart, and sneaky bready over time. Delicious!
