A twist on our signature Afterthought Ale, this version was brewed with Citra and Riwaka instead of our usual combination of Cashmere and Ekuanot. Like the standard version, this beer is brewed with pilsner malt and oats and fermented with a blend of kveik yeast, Brettanoymces, and our house culture. It retains the earthy, slightly funky melon rind character of its standard base but tends more toward honeydew than cantaloupe. Alongside the yeast expression is citrus, mango, and a bit of passionfruit. While Riwaka tends to be quite dank and pungent when used in heavy quantities, we went with more restraint with Riwaka in this beer, which added a complementary tropical and passion fruit character alongside the more forward display of Citra.

Pours with a billowing head, larger sudsy bubbles mixed in, which deflate the foam as they pop, leaving chunky bits of lace all around the glass. Pale gold, pastel yellow tone.
Aroma is hop forward, the dry hop gives it an herbal and fruity character over the acidity of the base beer.
Tart acidic bite with tropical Citra notes, leafy green hops, tangy passionfruit, dried mango, as it warms, the grain of the base beer emerges with an earthy, herbal hop bitterness in the aftertaste. Light bodied and effervescent, combines hoppy and sour elements in harmony.
Overall this is delicious, and I wish it came in a bigger bottle. Great summer refresher.
