From a can. Dark brown color with a thin layer of foamy beige head. Roasted malt and earthy aroma. Light body. Roasted, slightly smoky, malt flavor with some earthy bitterness on the finish. I would call this a schwarzbier, but regardless of label it's a dark beer with a light feel. Nice on a hot summer day.

This beer is very poorly handled on this sight and I hope to correct this. It is labeled “Black kolsch”, then designated a black IPA. This beer has a proper name and it is more along the lines of a Schwartzbier but it is labeled kolsch on the can.
In any event, this is a very nice beer. In San Antonio for the weekend and a kind local steered me to a small grocery across the street from our hotel, and there it was.
Poured from a can into a small hotel glass. Clear brown color with an excellent beige head and good lacing. Earthy, slightly smokey smell and taste. Spicy and herbal. Hard time identifying flavors, maybe some birch? Pleasant bitter finish with a smooth, full feel for a kolsch. Like I said, more of a Schwartzbier. Very nice beer!
