Named after the mascot of the old Michigan City Elston High School, this Red IPA bleeds Red Devil through and through. The beautiful malt backbone is comprised of Maris Otter, Crystal 30 and Melanoidin malt, added to enhance the sweetness and the lovely red coloring. A vibrant fruity nose will suck you in to do battle with this IPA.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a murky red/brown that is nearly opaque. Half-inch of thick creamy head makes it look like a Guinness. Smell is malty. Taste is unusual for a red IPA, but satisfying. Malty and smooth, almost like a Scotch Ale that's been hopped by an American. Don't really get much red ale, hence the lower overall score. But I would definitely order again.

On tap at Doc's Barbecue. Lacking, pour was good, but taste flat and was nothing special. Draftsmen said it was the best "Hoppe(y)" IPA in the place. Sad, as Three Floyd's is brewed about two miles away. Eighty IPA's on tap and I could not get a decent one in the whole joint. More of a reflection on Doc's than the lacking Red IPA I was served. All of Floyd's was already out. Grateful Dead all night on the stereo, but no excuse for no Floyd's. Yes, I guess the beer sucked too.
