Poured from 330mL can into my Belvárosi sörfesztivál tulip. Best by 4/30/25.
Appearance: medium golden hue with a moderate haze and some little chunks that have settled to the bottom of the glass. Head poured a rather dramatic four fingers of foam — that, plus the floaties, suggests maybe some kinda in-the-can fermentation maybe? Anyway, the brewer specially calls this an “unfiltered helles”.
Smell: sweet malt with just a hint of spiciness — either from the yeast, or from the hop variety, I can’t quite tell.
Taste: a nice, light malt flavor, with a dash of sweetness. That spiciness in the aroma is mostly not there in the flavor, although there are tiny wisps of it left. Not too bad, overall.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: the chunks and big foam upon opening led me to believe this can might have been infected or mistreated or something (it has been at rest in my fridge for a couple of days at this point). However, it doesn’t really taste infected, aside from that interesting spiciness (could be super mild phenols?). Anyway, despite all this, it’s pretty refreshing!
