355ml can poured into tulip 15/4/17

a clear golden yellow with some very fine suspended particles after further inspection, a finger of noisy foam falls before i have time to take a sip leaving no lace

S grainy and grassy, some dried leaves, faint fruity notes, apple maybe?

T much like the nose, a grainy lager, nothing stands out but I suppose this fits the style

M light with enough bubbles to give it some life, lager yeast on the finish but its fairly clean

O better then macro lagers, not really anything special but nothing offensive either

Meh, I'm not all that impressed by VIB's "re-branding", 3 of the 4 brews from the mixed pack were pretty average...

355ml can - I'm kind of getting annoyed with this focus on geographic coordinates, rather than what the beer is about.

This beer pours a clear, bright medium golden yellow colour, with a near-teeming tower of puffy, finely foamy, and mildly bubbly off-white head, which leaves some bloated mitochondrial lace around the glass as it quickly dissolves into the ether.

It smells of gritty and grainy pale malt, a hint of Continental gasohol, some wan apple/pear fruitiness, and very plain earthy, weedy, and dead grassy green hop bitters. The taste is bready and crackery pale malt, a sweeter fruity note than that in the aroma - with some pears, weak oranges, and red apples - still present petrol essences, and more understated leafy, weedy, and musty floral verdant hoppiness.

The carbonation is fairly active in its spry frothiness, the body a decent middleweight, and mostly smooth, with a wee hop (?) astringency taking things down a peg or so here. It finishes off-dry, the malt and inherent fruity character making a day of it.

Overall, this is a surprisingly engaging lager, what with the shitshow that was their 'cerveza' that I had yesterday. Nice and rounded, not as hoppy as I might have implied, but well-made, in the, yes, German style. Very drinkable and sessionable, if I was presented with the option.
