In tradition with the classic German Märzen styles originally served at Oktoberfest. Mild hopping compliment the rich combination of Pilsner, Vienna and Munich malts which give this brew its beautiful light copper color. Lederhosen not required (although encouraged).

Somewhat disappointing considering Altstadt’s fairly stellar output imo but this is kinda lacking. Could just b this year’s harvest since Live Oak’s Marzen was also sorta subpar this year but still,, I’d expect better. Classic honey, nut, grain & hop aromas & flavors but the aroma also has a dollop of diacetyl. Same thing on the palette sadly. I’ll see if it’s any better on tap @ Oktoberfest over in Fredericksburg….

Copper pour, thin khaki head. Nose suggests bread and floral

Taste shows caramel, hearty bread, floral, mild sweet herbs, medium kilned malt. Medium mouthfeel. Finish is tongue coating malt with a light hoppy dryness.

Appearance: Clear light amber. Frothy off-white head with great retention.

Aroma: Grainy, bready malt. Herbal hops.

Flavor: Bready and grainy malt. Spicy hops. Restrained bitterness. Drying.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, Short, crisp clean finish.

Overall: Outstanding. This one skirts close to a Vienna Lager both in color and finish but has Marzen strength. It is quite different than many of the domestic Marzen. It is one of the few that avoids the overly sweet, caramelly flavor that can imped drinkability. This beer has a clean, dry finish that invites you to drink more.

Drank 10/26/2023
Crystal clear moderately deep copper. dense off white head with good retention.
Immediately, the nose is nutty, caramel malt, toasted bread crust
Taste follows - a big nutty hit up front (pecans? walnuts?) followed by caramel which quickly gives way to toasted bread crust a delicate noble hop character. very good.
Excellent marzen

I love that this is brewed with all German ingredients and Texas spring water. It makes perfect sense coming from Fredericksburg. Looked and smelled just like an Oktoberfest beer with a hint of malt, biscuits and flowers. The alcohol content seemed a bit to high for me and overwhelmed the flavor though. It has a nice sweet finish.
Overall not a bad representation of an Oktoberfest Beer made in the USA, and definitely worth a try.

Two bottles from an old friend in Texas.
Copper color with a thin head. Aroma has notes of caramel.
Malty sweet and no hop bitterness, like it!

Side note: their labels are just outstanding, the embossed print looks so high quality.

Notes from 8/16/2022.
Poured from a 12oz bottle into anucleated Pilsner glass.
The beer is copper with 3 fingers of head. Retention is good leaving a collar.
The intensity of aroma is medium. There are notes of malt, caramel, slight chocolate aroma and a slight welches grape juice aroma.
The intensity of taste is medium. The follows the aroma, but it's far more dry and has a much stronger spicy hop flavor than the style usually has. The flavor is out of balance.
The feel is medium. Carbonation and astringency are low.
Overall, I wanted to like this beer, but it's not what I want in a Marzen.
