a rather basic take on the amber ale style, but well made and expert like all the beers here, which were in general of far higher quality than most of the rest of the local craft stuff we had here. brick red in color and nearly perfectly clear, served in a pils type glass at the brewery, it sports over an inch of just off white airy foam. the aroma here is rich red malts, some copper-like minerality, a toasted sweetness, and slight dried red apple. in the flavor, we get a nutty baseline, a fresh baked grain complexion, and again a minor fruitiness that works well with a caramelized sweetness. its simple beer, but it has some layers too, great craftsmanship, and the right mouthfeel for what it is, medium bodied, well carbonated, and working its way toward dry by the time i swallow. this, along with their blonde, were the less adventurous offerings they do in here, but they were both really well done. i dont generally prefer this style, but this was a really enjoyable glass of beer thats well better than most of its domestic peers.
