On-tap 3/2/2017 at the brewpub in Myrtle Beach, SC served in a US tumbler pint glass.
A: The beer is a deep gold color, with a short white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.
S: The aroma is faint but contains floral hops, caramelized malts and some citrus.
T: The taste starts out with a burst of earthy hops bitterness. Then some mildly sweet flavors of caramel and citrus come in. The malt character is hearty and brings a decent balance. The after-taste is slightly hoppy.
M: Crisp and a little smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is dry and slightly sticky.
O: A little tasty, goes down ok, not too filling, decent kick, decent representation of style, it’s not a bad beer but there are several better choices available within the style.

Pours a clear, copper color. 1/3 inch head of a white color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of floral hops, citrus hops, slight earthy malt, and slight sweet malt. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. There is an average bitterness and above average dryness. Fits the style of an American IPA. Tastes of caramel malt, earthy malt, slight sweet malt, hint of dry hops, citrus hops, and slight grass. Overall, the blend is too malt-centric for an IPA and the hops are almost stale tasting.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear copper with a thin white head. This rings the sides of the glass with creamy lace. The aroma smells of light floral and pine notes with a tangy mix of citrus and buttery malt character along the back. The taste is mellow mix of citrus and herbal notes. This has a moderate bitterness that leaves the finish dry and pithy feeling. More tangy malt sweetness mixes in along the back. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a general smooth feel and some light crispness on the tongue. That 6% is handled well. I wanted to like this more but it overall comes off as a mediocre effort. There just wasn’t enough pop to the flavors to make a pint of this worthwhile.
