500 ml bottle into a snifter. The 12/2023 edition, using Weller Bourbon and Sazerac Rye barrels. Had 3/2/24.
Pours near black and opaque, with no head and some oily smear on the glass. Aromas of cinnamon, coffee, vanilla, malt, some rye, some bourbon. Flavors of bourbon, rye, cinnamon, vanilla, coffee, oak. Smooth, a very good full body, appropriately carbonated.
The barrels and add- ins all show well and are quite distinct in the flavor. Would have liked the coffee to stand out more, but that’s a preference, not a complaint. Solid all around, very enjoyable.

'23 release. Imperial Stout Rested in Weller and Sazarec Rye Whiskey barrels for 30 months conditioned on Mexican Vanilla Beans and finished on @tugboatcoffee Guatemalan Coffee and Cassia Bark
Pours like motor oil. Pitch black with a thin head that dissipates immediately and leaves no lacing. Swirling it around coats the glass with a dark film.
Aroma brings big cassia bark, some coffee, vanilla bean, bittersweet chocolate chips, some fudge, some caramel, some oak, some rye, some bourbon.
Taste follows the aroma. Big cassia bark, some vanilla, dark chocolate fudge, cocoa powder, coffee bean, oak tannin, rye spice, bourbon, slight caramel. The cassia bark dominates, which I don't really mind, but I wish the vanilla/coffee and even the barrel showed through more given the time spent in barrels.
Medium body. Could use more body. Slick, sticky, oily. Pretty smooth for the abv.
Overall this isn't bad, but it isn't great either. Cassia bark can be overwhelming and this is an example of that. The barrel character is leaving more to be desired given the time it spent in barrels. The coffee and vanilla addition could use some work too. All that being said, this is still a quality barrel aged stout, but it leaves more to be desired.

This is one of my all time favorite beers. It’s blend all the flavors with the stout and barrel flawlessly. One of the most interesting and well balanced barrel aged stout I have had. Wish is had more!
