500 ml bottle into a snifter. A 2023 release. Had 2/16/24.
Pours near black and mostly opaque, with no head and a light oily smear on the glass. Aromas of rye whiskey, oak, vanilla, coconut, chocolate, some bourbon. Has a spicy aroma. Flavors of vanilla, rye whiskey, coconut, light bourbon and oak, lighter malt than usual. Has a spicy flavor. Smooth, a lighter and thinner full body, carbonated on the lower side.
The rye barrels and the vanilla star, and there’s a good amount of coconut. While it’s very enjoyable overall, the thinner feel and (I’m assuming unintentional) lack of carbonation are small negatives.
