The buttery oak meets cherry qualities in a crisp body with a mild char and favorable acid balance finishing with a little black pepper.
I was genuinely surprised to find that I enjoyed this as much as others have, since I typically don't favor the Flanders sours, regardless of who attempts producing them.

It's time to crack the big one.
500 mL bottle of the 2024 blend poured into a snifter. This is the one that won a gold medal from the GABF.
It's a very dark color, more akin to something like a syrup brown. It's dark with a tinge of red. I did not get any head and I'm assuming that is my fault again. Sigh (actually got half a finger of white foam on the second pour to finish the bottle. It faded right away).
The smell here is so pleasant. The fruit notes are obvious - cherry and raspberry - as well as the vanilla. It smells tart, acidic, but not in an aggressive way. A very inviting nose. The taste follows. The hit of carbonation comes first, followed by the sour red. It's tart but not overly so; rather, the fruit and oak barrel flavors come through. It is noticeably warming all the way down. It also leaves a bit of creaminess along with the tartness behind.
I guess the fruit flavor isn't as in your face as it might be, but that doesn't make it any less fun to drink here. It's NB, who always do good stuff, and you know you're getting something special when it comes to their labor of love products such as this and their barleywine (both the results of the solera process, as it were).

On draft at Noble Beast
Look: burnt amber with a thin white head
Smell: Oak, vanilla, whole wheat toast, light vinegar, and a touch of honey
Taste: A mild vinegar greets the plate, with a body of vanilla, oak, cherry, and whole wheat toast.
Feel: Clean and a very pleasant sour. Light bitterness. No alcohol. Dry finish.
Overall: A beautiful American Flemish. Something that clearly was a labor of love. Well done!
