Poured from 440mL can into my 8th Wonder chalice. Best by 7/30/25.
Appearance: rich, dark brown hue, somewhat impenetrable to light so there might be some murk in there. Head is two fingers of frothy tan foam.
Smell: a bit on the sweet side with notes of chocolate, vanilla, and I'm getting a hint of maple syrup here too. It doesn't come across as super coffee-ey, but it's got a smooth roast going on. I like it.
Taste: like the aroma, the malt definitely has some sweetness to it, but this is pretty well balanced by the roastier flavors. Again, I might not suspect coffee was added unless you told me. The vanilla is present but not too far forward in the mix. Not bad at all.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a good level of carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: a well-done flavored oatmeal stout. Maybe not quite the "wow" factor of BYM's IPAs, but still a solid beer.
