The Canada 150 was so good we had to continue brewing it to keep people happy! We kept the same great taste yet changed the name to the Rusty Husky, a tribute to the dog sled races that were part of Bancroft’s Heritage in the past. Made with Canadian Barley, as well as English and West Coast Hops gives it a great flavour, sweet with a medium body, and a dry finish. Perfect for drinking any time of the year.

Malty and mellow; rich without being overpowering. Faintly hoppy on the nose, which also serves as a gentle way to cut away from the sweet malt flavors. An excellent post-hike beer.

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Nov 12 2021, listed at 5.6% and served slightly chilled.

Pours a clear copper amber colour with moderate effervescence; situated atop is roughly two fingers of lumpy, soapy, off white-coloured foam that recedes within two minutes or so. A messy, arcing pattern of sticky lace remains behind, in addition to a creamy collar and filmy cap - looks pretty good to me. Malt-forward on the nose - toasted grains, doughy malts, caramelized sugars and toffee, with hints of tea leafy hops.

It's a serviceable amber-esque ale - doughy malts at the forefront, with toffee and caramel soon giving up a little ground to leafy, herbal, mildly spicy hops at the finish. Stays leafy and bittersweet into the aftertaste, with light toffee sweetness lingering beyond. Light in body, with moderate carbonation that gently prickles the tongue; feels smooth, but a little thin. Tossing this one back was no problem at all.

Final Grade: 3.56, a B grade. Rusty Husky is in the midst of an identity crisis: it says 'amber ale' on the can, but in all honesty it doesn't really remind me of many of the American ambers I've had over the years. It does share a few similarities with English pale ales/IPAs, and I suppose I could also entertain an argument for 'brown ale'. Regardless of what you want to call it, it's a decent pub ale worth a shot - good, clean malt flavours countered by a modest dose of (largely) English hop flavours. I'd drink it again, but wouldn't go out of my way for more.

A very ordinary amber. Says it's a strong beer at 5.5% ABV, but not really. Handsome colour, short-lived head to a ring. Some caramel on the nose, noticeable caramel to taste - maybe more than is common for an amber. Thin-bodied. Drinakble.
