An uncomplicated, clean, crisp lager.
James Squire arrived in convict shackles yet went on to start the colony’s first brewery. To honour this tenacity, we brewed one of the nation’s finest lagers and named it after his ability to hustle and break free of the chains that were supposed to hold him back.

This one was drunk in November 2024.
L: Crystal clear light golden yellow with a fluffy bright white head and lots of large bubbles rocketing up the glass.
S: Nose has sweet brioche-like malt, grass and hay.
T: The taste is sweet malt with earthy, dirty hops that leave a strong, bitter kick on the swallow. The bitterness hangs on the tongue long afterwards.
M: The body is smooth and full, carbonation is low to medium, and there's a slight carbonic kick on the swallow.
O: This is an ok macro lager. It has a more bitter kick than I expected, but it's balanced well with a sweet malt body. Overall, this is better than I expected.
Cheers!
