Our version of Kölsch uses German grown barley and hops, and a super clean German lager yeast to make this crusher. To finish it off, we did the unthinkable, and filtered this thing to excellent brightness and smoothness. Funny enough, it’s the first beer that we have ever filtered at Green Cheek! The result? Brilliantly clear, with a solid head of white foam to match. Lighter in body than our Helles, with a very clean and firm bitterness. The finish is drying and crisp, with drinkability maxed out to new heights. Very proud of this one.

Glass: Pure Project 14-oz. snifter elemental (earth)
Price: $12.00 for a 4-pack
From: Green Cheek Beer Company in Costa Mesa, Calif.
Purchased: Dec. 3, 2021
Consumed: Dec. 7, 2021
Misc.: Canned on Nov. 19, 2021
Grabbed a 4-pack of this and two others at Green Cheek to have/share in my hotel room in my final work trip to the Carson area. Had a taster of this and one or two cans of this before, giving it a 4.25 on Untappd. Untappd description for this was “Our version of Kölsch uses German grown barley and hops, and a super clean German lager yeast to make this crusher. Poured a medium yellow clear color with six fingers of rocky white head. Plenty of bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass at different speeds, looking like a snow globe. World-class foggy-to-foamy lacing. Excellent foamy retention. (Sight - 4.50)
Smelled unsalted corn chips, Noble hops, hay, hints of peppery spice, honey and light white grape notes. Not as good out of the can. (Smell - 4.25)
Tasted just as good as the nose. In order got unsalted corn chips, Noble hops, hay, hints of peppery spice, white grape, honey, apple, hints of bitter aspirin and dry grass. (Taste - 4.25)
Light body. Creamy texture. Lively carbonation. Dry, crisp finish. (Feel - 4.50)
Overall this was a banger for a Kolsch. Very well done. (Overall - 4.50)
