Our Lead Brewer for our Costa Mesa spot dreamed up this beautiful little West Coast Pils, and he describes it best. Pete says "Smells like money on payday, freshly cut grass, ripe cantaloupe, grapefruit flesh, cotton bubble gum and a pleasant waft of diesel. On the palate is a light to medium body with flavors of rustic bread coming from the addition of spelt."

Pint at Green Cheek in Costa Mesa. Review entered from notes.
Pours mostly clear, about a finger of medium-coarseness head. Smell is bright, bubblegum and melon. Some honey and flowers. Something grassy. Taste is bitter. Melon and lemon rind. Flowers come across, but so do their stems. Mouthfeel is dry, light....overall, maybe a cold IPA, not a pils, but pretty tasty beer.

Well, Evan and Green Cheek have done it again...one of the best breweries to handle Nelson hops and this is another data point! Expressive Nelson-dank goodness on the nose and palate! The only nitpick is that this drinks more like a Cold IPA than a hoppy pils. It needed just a touch more bready-biscuity malty notes to bring out more pilsner characteristics to go along with that awesome Nelson. Outside of that, this is an outstanding hoppy pils!
