Pours a pitch-black coloration with a medium, fluffy head. Smells of quite roasted, slightly caramelly malt, dark chocolate and lighter coffee, with hints of herbal hops as well. Taste follows the nose, with a great balance of quite roasted, slightly caramelly malt, distinct dark, bitter chocolate, as well as lighter coffee and hints of licorice and earthy/herbal hops. Finishes with a light/medium bitterness and some roasted malt, chocolate and hints of coffee lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
This makes for a rather nice chocolate stout that never turns too sweet, being balanced very nicely by some more roasted and bitter notes, while the chocolate still comes through distinctly here, but being a bit more dark and bitter rather than sweet and milky, which is just the way I like it, personally. Overall, I really like the roasted, dry and bitter flavor profile here, making for a very enjoyable chocolate stout that feels quite well-balanced and drinks rather pleasantly.

1 pint .09 oz bottle from Lifesource in Salem OR $4.79 Darkest brown beer with a gorgeous creamy, thick beige head. Nice aromas of semi dark chocolate and medium roast coffee..some toasted cereal. Nice. Taste the same as the aroma..pretty nice..the chocolate in particular lingers long. Mouth feel thin for this style in the USA but pretty typical of British/Carribean stouts. I liked this.very drinkable

Deep, rich brown with meringue-like head. Muddied nose with nothing really grabbing you. Thin mouthfeel for a chocolate stout, with slightly excessive carbonation. Some notes of cocoa, malt, and espresso, but tasted a bit unsorted. Not an unpleasant beer, but too many contenders in this space to repeat this one.
