Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque black in the glass with a nice, three finger dark khaki head with great retention and nice lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt with slight biscuit and char, chocolate and licorice. Flavor follows with dark toasted malt with light char, licorice, milk and dark chocolate, light grassy hop bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied with moderate creaminess. A straightforward imperial stout with a pleasant licorice note that is welcome. Nice chocolate character and a bit of bitter hopping in the finish. Full flavor and body. Nicely done.

Can from The Beermongers.

Black with a dense dark brown head with good retention and lacing this looks great. The nose is spot on for the style. Dark roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, buckwheat honey, a mild but firm earthy bitterness, some cacao nib, a little bit of anise and licorice, this is quite deep. A dark brown sugar character is present as well. The palate opens bitter and full with a grainy bitterness and a moderate chocolate sweetness. Roast, caramel malt, dark chocolate, a little bit of milk chocolate, honey are present. On the mid palate, there are flavors of licorice, a little earth and pine from the hops. Creamy and bitter on the finish with lingering coffee and dark chocolate, this beer is medium full in body and softly carbonated. Exceeded my expectations.
