This Schwarzbier or black lager is filled with smooth malt with hints of coffee & roast, light herbal/floral hopping makes for an easy-drinker at a mere 5% ABV.

I had this beer on a nitro tap in a shaker pint glass at Tapped Public House in Mill Creek, WA.
Appearance: dark brown hue with a creamy tan foam from the nitro. Looks pretty great!
Smell: light caramel malt with a little bit of sweetness coming through. Not bad.
Taste: lightly sweet with nice caramel notes and perhaps a hint of chocolate to the roasted malt. Smooth and flavorful.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a really nice, smooth creaminess. Nitro doesn’t always work great for texture but I like it a lot here!
Overall: a solid schwarzbier, and the nitro suits it well.

Look: Deep mahogany brown on the pour and jet black in the glass with a billowing light brown head that retains well and slowly settles, leaving a nice coating on the glass
Aroma: Roasted barley, baker’s cocoa, light nuttiness, warm bread, and some toasted cereal grains
Taste: Chocolate and roast kick it off as wave after wave of bready notes and tree nuts pile on and into the mix. Light coffee wafts into the fold and mingles some before the dark chocolate, roast, and nuttiness close it out
Mouthfeel: Full but light feeling, very clean and crisp throughout, medium-high carbonation, and crisp, clean, and robust on the finish
Overall: This is tasty stuff. I am a well-known sucker for a good Schwarzbier so snagged this as soon as I saw it and glad I did. A great American interpretation with nice roast/chocolate/nutty notes along with a very clean and crisp overall profile and feel. Definitely worth the purchase if you see it and like the Schwarzbier style

19.2 oz. can from Lifesource Natural Grocers in Salem OR.
$3.29
Pours a black body as expected. But with a luscious creamy/thick tan head.
Aroma is herbal, medium roast coffee beans, and some dried dark fruits. Nice.
Taste kinda the same with the coffee and a slight ash aspect in the end.
Nice mouth feel for the style. Medium body medium to low carbonation. Gets ever so slightly sticky at the very end.
An OK attempt and looks like its coming to convenience stores soon.
