another fine lager from these guys, this one in the czech tradition, deep golden to brass in color, beautifully clear but definitely a little richer looking than many, high carbonation and a rising white head just over an inch tall and long lasting, looks well refined to me. the nose is a little bit maltier than is common, fuller cereals at the core of this, a little floral honey thing, not overly rich but really robust to me, minerals in the mix, a lightly toasted thing, english muffin, and some noble hops on the back end, perhaps less european on the grain side than a lot of these too, different enough to stand out, but still traditional too. the flavor isnt as big as the aroma, its mellower, cohesive, and with the hops starting fairly early in the flavor journey but never getting too bold or bitter later on, grassy and a light dried flower aspect, some mid palate grain sweetness but drier later on, simple in some ways, but distinctive too, and for me its not quite as refreshing and bright as the best of these, but the technical detail is there, the recipe just seems a little bit weighed down on the grain side. nice for spring weather thats still feeling wintery, and nice on the palate with spicy or greasy food, i had both and it worked. i like them a little more delicate, but this is well made beer...
