Restrained roast flavor with rich malty sweetness, notes of dark fruit, caramel, and dark malt with a clean finish.

12 oz. bottle:
Pours jet black. A thin head immediately becomes a slight lasting wisp. Very little lacing.
The smell is of chocolate, some licorice with dark earthy notes. Slight dark fruits. Slight roast.
The taste is of chocolate, molasses, some licorice in the finish, Sweet with an earthy bitter touch to balance it.
It is medium to full bodied. It could be smoother but it works.
It is a fine example of the style. Wish the alcohol were a bit more masked or integrated, as it is a bit raw. Otherwise, it's very good. I'm glad they made this style!
