473 mL can from the LCBO; no canning date. Served slightly chilled.
Pours a clear golden-brass colour, kicking up more than an inch of foamy, frothy white head that settles off within three minutes or so. A lovely curtain of even lace is draped against the glass as it recedes, with a thin collar and filmy cap being the eventual remnants. Floral, herbal, slightly spicy hops on the nose, along with grainy pale malts and a hint of lemon zest.
The flavours follow the nose - grainy and a little biscuity, with Saaz hops rounding out the back end. Floral, with hints of lemon preceding an earthy, mildly bitter finish, followed by an herbal, tea leafy note that lingers into an earthy aftertaste. Light in body, with moderate carbonation that lends a little bit of prickliness to this pilsner's smooth mouthfeel. Excellent drinkability - I could drink a few of these in a row, no problem.
Final Grade: 3.88, a B+. Stone House has concocted a quality pilsner here - and it's also a pleasant surprise, from a relatively local brewhouse that I hadn't encountered until now. I drink a lot of Budvar/Czechvar, and this is a passable substitute that I would buy regularly, if it were to become reliably available around here. Good stuff, try it if you can find it.

Short head that completely dissipates, no lace. Amber gold in colour. Nose is malt forward, sweet and bready. Juicy mouthfeel, malt forward again, toffee, low level hop bitterness to finish. Hint of alcohol. Juicy sweet mouthfeel. Drinkable.

I am more of an IPA guy, but I am always on the lookout for an amazing sessionable beer for everyday consumption. This checks all the boxes for an amazing, classically clean and spicy (saaz hops) Czech pilsener. It has fast become one of my favourite beers and I’m just hoping that it will become more readily available at the LCBO!

This tiny Stone house brewery presently has but one beer offering, but they got it right. Simply one of the easiest drinking pilsners I've had. For me it has the right, carbonation, mouth feel and hop level for a warm summer afternoon.
