Poured black with a thick tan head that dissipated quickly. Smell malt and vanilla. Don't taste much figs, but taste the rest of the "fig newton" cookie -- sugar, vanilla, toasted malt, with a bit of smoke on the back end. Surprised that this didn't have a thick or boozy mouthfeel.

Pours a dark brown, tan head. I don't get a lot of fig in this, which is odd for a beer that is formed in honor of the fig newton. There is a lot of roasty, toasty character. Not super boozy feeling at all.
