Appearance: Poured with a thumb of head, minor lace but solid carbonation in the body. The body is a pale brass color.
Smell: Lime dominates the nose, with mild ginger (I presume galangal) I'd say is the middle note with straw background. Good potency that didn't need warming.
Taste: Lemon and Lime but absent the usual acidity you normally associate with citrus. So you don't get much of a sour punch here. It then turns to a mild ginger that kind of peters off.
Mouthfeel: Long after the ginger peters off and the beer is in your stomach, you get an earthy aftertaste. It's weird, like the hops are expressing long after they should, but it's not unpleasant. The carbonation is solid, but it's a weird experience to have that kind of missing note at the end.
Drinkability: That lack of end note however makes this absurdly easy to drink, as nothing really restrains you from putting it down. Despite it's absurdly light drinkability, it manages to retain some class with it's profile and general offbeat nature. Also settles down incredibly well.
Final Thoughts: Fun, interesting, light and weird. I actually got this beer at a Thai restaurant in Ancaster and it paired very well with the green curry I had with it. My impression is it was clearly made with care, and I feel back for putting it back as fast as I did, but that seems to be the design of it. Solid stuff, would love to see it again.
