i just cant let this one go. i know these hazy double dry hopped ipa types are all the rage right now, but we have to call amateur beer amateur beer. to contend that this comes anywhere close to the stuff coming from the likes of tree house or trillium or even some of the lesser known east coast brewers like other half, finback, and common roots, is offensive, its just not even close. its messy all the way through, still sweet and turbid on the grain side, brightly aromatic on the hops, but more vegetal than flavorful, and with a long over the top hoppy finish thats kind of gross. i try to see this in the context of a new brewery trying to figure it out, but with all the hype around these beers, i am more inclined to think somehow the wool has been pulled over the eyes of the local ipa drinker. have people never had better examples of hazy ipa? or is some local cool kid telling everyone this is the second coming? i just dont get it. harsh almost the whole way through, and while i like the combination of hops, this comes across more as spaghetti at a wall than something understood, refined, or dialed in. i liked my first experience with their beers better than my second, they dont seem to be improving much, and if everyone keeps telling them these beers are amazing, its never going to evolve into anything worth while. this was downright disappointing!
