this is the first dark beer i think ive had from these guys, and its a good one, a milk stout spiked with cinnamon and vanilla. a few things about this are awesome aside from the name and abv correlation. one of them is that its not super high alcohol. so many adjunct sweet stouts like this kill you with the booze and the sugar, this one stays a little more moderate there and allows for higher consumption, i think thats a smart call. they also built this up really nicely with the grain, roasty like dark coffee and loaded with earthy bitterness to balance out some of the sugars and the vanilla intensity, also really smart. the cinnamon is natural and fragrant without being hot or spicy, its comforting and appealing, not candy-like at all either. the vanilla is really robust, but i like it with the roast and the cinnamon. i think the milk sugar could be scaled back or dropped out all together, its unneeded with all the vanilla. some dark chocolate and coffee notes at the end, this drinks like a fall latte, and is smooth and rich going down, lingering on the palate are the cinnamon and vanilla, and its a slow fade to say the least. really well done beer, a big step up from some of the other barrel theory stuff ive had so far, one of the first to rightfully warrant the hype that surrounds this place...

A taster size poured into a 4 oz in snifter. Just a bit t0o sweet but not a bad milk stout for someone like me whose least favorite style is a milk stout. Actually better than the Swipe Right imperial stout that was also on tap.

On tap. Light tan head. Black/brown.
Lots of cinnamon. Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Cocoa and chocolate. Smooth. Medium bodied. Very easy drinking with a lot of flavor.
