Large in body and beautiful pitch black in the glass, Hoops’ stout is brewed with 10% oatmeal to increase mouthfeel and a rich velvet body. Notes of dark chocolate and coffee are balanced by classic pacific northwestern hops.

Hoops No. 88 Oatmeal Stout, 5.9% ABV. Pours black with a one-finger foamy off-white head. Malty nose. Taste is coffee, moderate 52 IBU bitterness. Very smooth mouthfeel, overall excellent.

16oz can from the brewery. Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with a small, khaki-colored head of foam. It left sudsy lace. It smelled of roasted malt, chocolate, toffee and caramel. Sweet chocolate taste with roasted malt and some coffee.

Poured from crowler into cup.
A: Pours a nice super dark brown with light mocha head with good retention.
S: Dark caramel and chocolate malt.
T: Opens up a bit more in the taste with dark caramel, toffee, dark bittersweet chocolate, and a hints of leather and coffee with cream.
M: Light body. Fairly soft with mild bitterness. Darkly sweet. Slightly creamy feel.
D: A nicely crafted stout. Nothing stupendous, but easily drinkable (read very sessionable) with good complexity of flavors.
