Not the first and not the last stop this day. We are now in Port Jervis, on purpose, it’s true. The last frontier before Pennsylvania happens. I think we can all agree on burning the bridges to there, yes? Haven’t been to and through PJ since my days in waste. Lookin’ for a brewpub spotted and circled back, a doublewide establishment on a strip that is surprising more a town than I recall...

Enter seemingly strangely through the side that holds the sunken brewery below, and then wrap around to the bar side. As the bar is full, we slum it with a table. It’s a good space. Plank wood floors, brick, brick, & brick walls, black pressed tin ceiling & with crown molding, and 2 rows of alt spinnys & duct work. Colored glass lights tracing the bar, clear ones running over the seating, and spots up front. Upwards of 20 mix & match sized tables high & low, pushed together & not.

Phat wood plank topped ‘L’ shaped bar, pressed tin inlay wood framed base, & steel foot bar. Seating for a baker’s dozen on wood chairs. Big brick barback wall with a cut through on center to the other side, with a pair of flats above; the one on the left showing a Vikings/Saints game, and the one on the right listing tap selections (beer, style, descriptors, ABV, IBU, & price). Framed horizontal stainless panel to the right of the break with 16 non-descript handles and their respective tap markers above. Shelving above & aside with better booze, and growls & crowls lined atop, and glassware on shelving racks below the bar. More of the same to the left side of the break alongside a fox & (well dressed) hare print.

Large front wall of garage door roll up action, and an open kitchen to the rear with shorty growls lining atop. Rear corner angled piece with glassware, growls, & crowls, and menu boards atop. They have what I’m pretty sure is a painted representation of the SRM on one wall done up on individual pieces of wood. It’s pretty cool. You don’t see that every day, or ever. Elsewhere, there’s ‘Face art’ for lack of a better I don’t know what, but it’s colorful, and bright, and earthy.

13 beers (Early Morning Light, Golden Ale, 5%; Hillside Harvest, Hefeweizen, 5.4%; Primitive Pils, 5.3%; Shed a Little Light, Amber Lager, 5.5%; Hop Forward, IPA, 7.5%; Hop on the Bus, NEIPA, 6.5%; Delaware Rye-Sing, Rye IPA, 6.8%; Night Shadow, Imperial Stout, 10.2%; Dark Pastures, Milk Stout, 5.8%; 2018 Night Shadows, Cellared Imperial Stout, 10.2%; Fallen Pines, Imperial IPA, 8.5%; Caught in Darkness, Black Ale, 7.5%; Stranded in the Night, BA Imperial Stout, 10.2%), and 2 ciders (Doc’s Bourbon Sour Cherry Cider & Dry Hopped Cider). Caught in Darkness, Black Ale, was very good and thank you for not abandoning the style as so many/too many have. The Primitive Pils was pleasant, the Hillside Harvest, Hefe, was a Hefe, and the Hop Forward, IPA, was just that, and did not suck. I’m happy that they have a range of beers, interestingly on the Stouty dark side and thankfully just a single hazy.

There was fewd. Started with the spent grain buttermilk biscuits, served with honey butter & strawberry preserves (theys was FIRE!). And then the grownup grilled cheese sandwich; maple smoked & sharp cheddars on sourdough, with caramelized onions, sautéed spinach, & sundried tomatoes (really goddamn good). Davo went with Buffalo Brussels (because he knows I think that Brussel Sprouts are the devil’s food, and therefore there was zero risk he’d have to share them), and then a pimento cheeseburger.

On walkabout now, I find the other side holds nearly a half dozen hightops for the sitting at wrapping around the Baker style sunken brewhouse. 2 large projection screens on the far wall, some menu boards, and swag displayed, too. Did I mention the absolutely badass 2 story sprawling Appalachian Trail map from end to end? It’s super cool.

Davo wants to go now, he’s giving me the lookin’ at. This was not the aforementioned last stop of the day so we must push on. Honestly, I was not expecting this to be as good as it is. Someone knows what they’re doing here. And the food was excellent, too. There is a scene to be seen in Port Jervis.

Stopped here after a several other spots on my way home from VT. The primary stop was to have some food, the beers were just an added bonus. The place is pretty nice inside, some cool decor on the walls to look at if you're bored. The service was good. The beers were decent, they had quite a few different style to choose from which was nice but none really blew me away. The food was solid though, so no complaints there. Seems like a pretty cool place to hangout if you're a local.

Store front brewery with an industrial era vibe. Long bar on right hand side of entry seats about 20 with at least a dozen tables. 13 assorted craft selections and a few ciders. Friendly service, crowler fills, and moderately priced tasty food.
