2/24/2019 - Hint of cherry and cinnamon. Slightly short of perfection

12oz can from Sprayberry Bottle Shop (Marietta, GA). 2.99. No canning date but this is a recent release. Served in a Barrel and Barley teku. Enjoyed 11/9/18.
Pours a a nearly fully opaque brownish red with a fast-fading cap of pale head. A thin halo persists but no other retention to speak of.
Smells of woodsy cherries, mild cinnamon and dough.
There is an interesting flavor blend of slightly sweet and mildly tart cherries, a little spice, pie crust and some vaguely bitter fruit skin.
Smooth body, on the lighter side of medium, with light carbonation. The sweet, tart aftertaste does indeed call to mind a slice of cherry pie.
While not as on-the-nose as some breweries achieve, Wild Leap has done some nice work creating a lower abv dessert beer that works well as a fall seasonal. American Cherry is a pleasant sipper for cool autumn evenings.
