Had on tap, it poured hazy gold color with a 1-2 finger white head that left nice lacing. Taste was full of citrus with tangerine, lemon, grapefruit, orange peel and coriander mixing with yeast and mild spices. Mild bitterness and a smooth feel helped this go down easy.

Hazy golden pour--not densely hazy--you can see through this one. Nice lively citrus and pineapple nose. Bright refreshing flavors that include pineapple, orange and melon. Fruity in all the right ways. Definitely has me interested in pursuing more West Kill varieties.

Kaaterskill Falls, Hunter, NY 12436 is 22 miles east of West Kill, all of it nestled in the green Catskills, which are fed with pure New York water. Secluded, natural home to this brewer, which makes 4+ craft.

Hazy sunshine yellow with steady, clingy white head; pineapple, lemon chiffon, passionfruit and flowers on the nose; grapefruit peel, gooseberry, canary melon, white peaches, lemon balm, slight dank and grass; bitter, soft, clean. Mashed papaya as it opens

Citra, Mosaic, Azacca, Columbus
6 weeks in the can minus a day.
Opens with both barrels of catty Citra and more bitterness than you’d expect from any flagship IPA these days. This had me worried that this would be the first West Kill to be one note and therefore disappointing, no matter how good that one note is.
I worried for nothing. As it opened out came not just loads of yellow tropical and orchard fruit notes (thanks to Mosaic + Azacca) but also a range of botanicals that seem to be a signature of this farm brewery.
Add to that West Kill’s soft well water and we’ve got another WK beer that you can either quaff or study to your satisfaction.
Superior IPA.

Picked this up a few weeks ago in Williamsburg as the can art drew me in and once I saw that this was from a brewery I never heard of before, I set it aside to bring back home to New Jersey. Really enjoyed this beer and how accessible it was as this only grew on me once it fully warmed up - which wasn't very difficult in the middle of this muggy heat wave!
Quite a lovely and understated golden hue to this as it was uniform in appearance and fully free of any sediment floating in it. A sufficient head topped it off evenly as the lacing left behind was spotted in an array near the middle of my pint glass. Turbid citrus, sticky mango, grass, and earthy hops were in the nose to a light extent as the taste was a beautiful agglomeration of all of those with each hop being in perfect proportion to the others. Grain, white grape, apricot, melon, elderflower, and a subtle farmhouse funk emerged well before I finished this off as this was quietly and beautifully complex under the surface. A bit dry and surprisingly spicy, this really grew on me as the aftertaste had hints of field, forest, and funk that once again, melded well together.
Booze? It was here and I felt a bit but with so much to love going on here, who's to notice that this had any potency to it? A bit oily, sticky like bread, and lightly carbonated, this was a smooth and slow sipper that easily called for another after it was finished off. Dated 3/10 on the bottom with "PROTECT THE CLOVE" written underneath it, this was an awesome first impression from West Kill that won me over without hitting me over the head with hops, haze, or heft. It's beers like this that make hauls of random, single cans completely worth all of the effort to obtain them!

a wonderful introduction to this brewery! big thanks to my homie back east for shipping this out, really quality stuff, hazy sure, but super well refined, especially for this region where they tend to run milky and thick, this is soft and effervescent and neither grainy nor yeasty, its also not overdosed on the hops, nothing green or vegetal about it, no harsh bite, its gorgeous really, springy, pale straw colored and frosted looking with a lively white head, no sediment at all, beautiful art on the can. really fresh and exciting nose here, mellow meyer lemon and tangerine, kiwi and white grape, and trace gin botanicals too, maybe a little oily when i taste it, but the flavor and the nose line up perfectly, this has layers to it, and the unique contribution of each hop in the mix has its moment, very well layered in that way, but without being a bruiser or a kitchen sink kind of beer either. the fermentation is quite clean, and this is very dry, but there is a faint yeast element here that i really like, not quite saison-esque or anything, nowhere near that level, but definitely a rustic aspect to it that i love. effervescent carbonation, quick finish, a fresh wash of citrus forward hops on every sip, really compelling stuff from a quality standpoint and this makes me eager to track down more beer from west kill. one of the better ipa types i have had this year so far really...
