As good as any RIS pour I've had. Deep dark color, carbonation and awesome thick dark tan head that sits.
No real smell, taste is simple, what you expect from any RIS.
Smooth, easy to drink, inexpensive, was happy I picked this up.
Good beer.

Picked up a 500 ml bottle at Half Time on way to visit college friends.
Pouring into a pint glass, because its what ive got. Beer is at room temperature.
The beer pours a jet black color with a minimal tan head foaming up and instantly becoming an edge layer only.
Looks the part for a imp stout.
Aroma is heavy with roasted malt and charred wood notes. I also get some dark chocolate notes and a bit of black licorice or anice too. A bit of coffee grounds mixed in too. Not really boozy notes anywhere and hops are absent too.
First sip reveals a medium to thick body with gentle rolling carbonation.
Fairly big physical traits make this a bit of a sipper, even though its not boozy.
Flavor is charred wood, anice and coffee grounds with a little molasses and bourbon mixing with some drying wood or oak notes. Very malty and no hops here either. The booze comes in a little with some black peppery bite on the finish. My palate also dries out after each swallow encouraging me to take another sip.
A solid Imp Stout, much more on the roasted side than sweeter side of the style. A beer that sneaks up on me by the end of the bottle, and one that I do enjoy.

Amped up, BA version of their tamer ~8% BD. This beer takes in the view from the top than has you rolling your way down and thru the wilderness, or whatever ditch you find yourself in.
The flavor resonates with warmth, gentle and resolute. Brown buttered chocolate, caramel, tanned leather, Peruvian hot chocolate, tart cherries and a raw, sappy, barrel that imparts a LOT of oak flavor. Remnants of spearmint, floral vanilla, raspberries; the barrel flavour is really phenomenal and not just an afterthought. I'm only wanting for some more roast as the feel/flavor is a bit sticky but delightfully chewy. The aroma is muted but woody, spicy, and of brown butter and chocolate chips.
