A wonderfully balanced lager with white grape or wine notes and a crisp, refreshing, solid consistency. Might be my favorite West Kill beer. While the brewery might be better known for pale ales, their lagers and pilsners seem to be getting better with each batch.

Bright hold with pitted snow foam; flowers, grain, and wine cellar nose; toasted white pan, gentle Noble spice, bergamot hints and a light vanilla edge; dry, gently bitter, clean.

None of the features - French pils malt, Strisselspalt, or oak - figure as prominently as you’d expect. Instead it’s all woven into a nuanced, balanced package with surprising depth. A well-constructed beer you can quaff, savour, or match with food. Whole is greater than the sum of the parts.
