On tap at West Kill Brewing in West Kill, NY.
This one pours a slightly hazy golden yellow color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
The ramps are super, super prominent on the nose, to the point of almost being overwhelming – it smells like garlicky sauteed onions, with some lemon peel, pine, and grapefruit.
I really like the uniqueness of this one, an IPA with ramps and lemon is a neat idea. It’s executed well, but I just think the ramp character is too strong. It’s good for like 2 oz, but then the heavily garlicky and oniony character of the ramps just starts to get overwhelming.
This is light bodied, and quite intensely flavored – it took a while to get through a whole pour.
As fun as the idea is here, it’s a tough beer to drink.
