On tap at The Sheffield in Brighton, NY.

This one pours a golden dark brown color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells like pumpernickel, rye spice, caramel, cereal grain, and some breadiness.

This is a pretty exemplary altbier, with a hop character that’s spicy and almost rye-like in flavor. There’s lots of breadiness here – almost pumpernickel like, with some very light caramel sweetness.

This is medium bodied, creamy, and very drinkable.

It’s hard to find a flaw with this one – it’s a very nice take on an almost forgotten style.

Can: Poured a clear brown color altbier with a large off-white foamy head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma of caramelized malt notes with light cereal notes is quite pleasant. Taste is also a mix of dry caramelized malt notes with some clear cereal notes and a semi-dry finish. Body is about average with good carbonation. Easy drinking with right amount of cereal and caramelization for the style.

Clear, brilliant, deep amber body, like maple syrup, forming a dusty head with great retention, several minutes worth.
Mild aroma, of caramel malt, and spruce hops.
Flavour is right in line with aroma, though the hops are amped up. Of pine resin, clean & fresh & bitter, driving a dry finish that lingers, carrying the malts with it. Medium body and carbonation. Crisp feel, refreshing.

A simple brew, with simple flavours, and as a result it needs to be well crafted to be a success - and it is. I could drink this all summer (would be a nice Fall brew too). Clean & pure flavours.

On draft at Godspeed. Pours teddish brown with moderate frothy head. Aromas sweetish malt with some biscuit. Flavour: Add some toasty notes and some carbonic bight. Hops appropriately recessed.
