German malt, German hops, Canadian water. This pale lager from the industrial city of Dortmund is a simple beer of balance: spice and citrus atop a humble foundation of malt, no ingredient shouting too loud and all in service of clarity. A full mouthfeel softens the moderate hoppiness, and accentuates the delicate malt profile. A long and cold maturation creates a crisp and refreshing beer that finishes clean. End your day like a Dortmunder: sweat on your brow and a beer in your hand.

Poured a 355ml can, dated Jan 14, 2025, into a Pilsner glass. A big three finger fine white head on a very slightly hazy gold.Excellent head retention. Stick around to the end. Sheets of fine lacing.

The nose is floral hop. Slight citrus. The taste is malt forward. Bread. A very mild herbal hop finish.

The mouthfeel is very smooth and balanced. Medium body and carbonation. Overall a fine European Export. The balance characteristic of the style has been well pulled off. Well worth a try.

Pours a slightly hazy dark straw yellow, puffy 2" head that levels out with good lacing. Nose is fermented dough, spiced hops, lemon peel, mild sweetness; lots of Helles vibes. Spice is the most prominent element on the palate, but not overly so; the hops are more sharp than they are bright or floral. There isn't much malt sweetness to speak of, though some breadiness comes through in the background. Mouthfeel is a little heavy, akin to an IPL or imperial pilsner, with sparkly carbonation. Overall solid while reminiscent of lots of other beers and styles.

Pours an almost clear dark golden colour with a beautiful creamy two fingers of white head - the pour at the brewery was art (out of the can at home still nice).
Cracker like malt aroma, spicy, floral hops, notes of citrus , a touch grassy.
Sweet cereal malt on the palate, bread, cracker with spicy floral and herbal hops and a striking moderately sharp bitterness.
Medium full mouthfeel, decent carbonation - clean crisp, sweet malt and lingering bitterness.

Canned 11/02/21

Golden amber tone, slight haze but good clarity otherwise. Billowing head, rings of sticky lacing down the sides of the glass.

Lager yeast aroma, library books, sesame crackers.

Taste is biscuity and malt forward, spicy floral hop, mild tea, grassy resiny hop bitterness lingers in the dry aftertaste. Light bodied and crisp, ample carb, frothy. Overall it’s well made and fairly hoppy for the style. Refreshing and easy drinking.

Appearance - Pours a clear dark gold with four fingers of frothy white head.

Smell - earthy, leafy, herbal, and spicy floral hops, plum, raisin, pumpernickel aromas, toasted pilsner malts, and earthy yeast.

Taste - earthy, leafy, herbal, and spicy floral hops upfront. The plum, raisin, and pumpernickel characteristics come through next. The toasted pilsner malts and earthy yeast rounds out the brew.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes sticky with the hops, malts, and fruits lingering.

Overall - A stellar brew and my first offering from this brewery. This one is a pleasant easy drinking brew that delivers on all fronts. A nice rare find here in Cowtown!

Can: Poured a clear dark golden color Helles with a rather large white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of clean cereal notes with light herbal notes is quite enticing. Taste is dominated by nice clean cereal notes with some faint residual sugar notes and light herbal hops notes for a semi-dry finish. Body is just about right for style with good carbonation. Super easy drinking with just the right mix of cereal notes. Great example of the style.

Deep, shining gold/amber body, clear with a smidge of chill haze. Pours a medium-dense, pure white head with a few minutes retention. Inviting.
Pure, bready, caramel malts on the nose. Fresh-baked sourdough, hints of apple pie crust.
Crisp, pale malt hits the palate first, quickly followed-up by pronounced hop bitterness that builds through the finish. That hop flavour is on the pithy side, and metallic, verging on bland. Lacking appropriate balance, the hops really run the show. Medium body and carbonation, crisp, clean, refreshing feel. Dry finish.

Not crazy about the flavour, the metallic and citrus pith bitterness are too distracting. That said, the feel is great, and would do for a post hockey game beer for me.

Got in a BIF from Coronaeus. 12 ounce can into lager glass, canned on 2/4/2019. Pours slightly hazy medium golden/amber color with a 1 finger fairly dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big cracker, white bread dough, toasted biscuit, light honey/nuttiness, wood, peppercorn, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance of pale malts and earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big cracker, white bread dough, toasted biscuit, light honey/nuttiness, wood, peppercorn, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of cracker, white bread dough, toasted biscuit, light honey/nuttiness, wood, peppercorn, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great robustness and balance of pale malts and earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop astringency after the finish. Moderately crisp/clean finishing. Perfectly clean on lager flavors, with no fruity/yeasty notes present. Moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness and carbonation. Medium-plus carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/sticky, and fairly resinous balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.8%. Overall this is an excellent Dortmunder lager. All around great robustness and balance of pale malts and earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink with the moderately bitter/drying finish; not overly aggressive. Very flavorful and not watery for the ABV. Great clean Pils/Munich malt showcase, with perfect noble hop presence/balance. No residual sweetness with crisp dryness. A very enjoyable offering, and well made style example. Just a bit more bitter/drying than expected.

On tap at Allen Burger Venture in Buffalo, NY.

This one pours a clear light amber color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells like bready and crackery malt, honey, and grassy hops.

This is quite simple, but still very tasty. The malt character is inviting and toasty, with a killer breadiness and a very light smokiness. There's very little hop character, just a smidge of grassy bitterness.

This is very light bodied, and crisp and clean, with a good level of carbonation, and a high level of drinkability.

This is a very underrated brewery- they make awesome beers and have a really cool theme.
