The onset of cooler weather always pairs with our desire to drink beers of the darker variety. Enter Kemuri Godspeed-Style Porter, one of our seasonal favourites. Showcasing English malted barley and a calculated blend of roasted malts, Kemuri pours midnight black with tawny highlights and a thick stand of mocha-like foam. Rich in profile, expect an opulent helping of freshly roasted coffee, dark chocolate, and a wisp of peat smoke that sings into the finish.

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 355mL in a pint glass. From the bottle shop at Erie Street Gastropub in nearby downtown Windsor. My ninth beer from the Toronto, Ontario brewery, and sixth for 2025...

UPDATE: Nov 2024
Smoke seems much increased and now seems cloying and unpleasant. Reluctantly finished the pint.
A subtlety smoked Porter with a lovely dark head. More of a robust than a brown Porter (given the hops) with a bit of smoke that builds a bit as you work your way through the pint. A dry clean finish and a lighter body than expected makes it more session-able than it might be otherwise.

Brown-red color. Smoke aroma, like smoked salmon. Flavor matches, balanced on a solid malt backbone. Slightly grainy texture.

Dry stout with subtle smoke influence. Drinkable stuff, and yes like bitter chocolate. Everything subtly done, leaving only the lightest aftertaste. Good after dinner drink. Can from the source.
