Nonbe | 飲兵衛 (meaning: to drink) represents our obsessive attempt to emulate older iterations of Oktoberfest bier brewed for the two week-long celebration that shares the style's name. Brewed with Vienna and Munich malts and Tettnanger hops, Nonbe expresses a piquant floral noble hop character before a luxurious cascade of malt notes begin to proliferate: toasted bread crust, caramel, molasses, and pecan. The drink's texture is round and opulent, showcasing the malt richness hinted at in the aroma with an added suggestion of maple sap; unsweetened and delightful. The finish, softened and refined by a long cold maturation, is the exclamation point on a lager that has us reaching for the nearest litre stein.

Can from brewery - packaged September 2, 2025.
Pours a very nice clear amber with a finger and a half of tawny coloured head.
Aroma is bready with caramel notes, a bit of brown sugar - floral but with a touch of earthy woodiness.
Bready, again some caramel sweetness up front, but with that woody note at the back and a somewhat earthy, leafy bitterness.
Medium mouthfeel with a crisp dry finish, but the bitterness sits at the back of the palate and frankly is a bit more than I would prefer. Not bad, but not my favourite of the style and would consider as a rare miss for me from Godspeed.

From a 355ml can packaged on Sept 02, 2025, poured into a pint glass. A two finger fine off white head on a dark copper. Good head retention and lots of fine lacing.
Mild caramel malts in the nose. Bread and taste. The taste follows the nose. Spicy hop noted up front followed by tasty malts. A dry, spicy mildly bitter finish.
Moderate body and carbonation. Overall a fine Marzen. Eminently drinkable and well worth a try.

Clear, deep amber, with a tan head, very fine, with good retention of a couple minutes.
Aroma is mild, sweet grain malt, touch of caramel.
Flavour is heavier on the hop bitterness than expected, with rich caramel malt playing a supporting bassline role. Not to say it's super bitter, but it is a 50/50 balance. Minimal hop flavour, on the pine/resin side, with some spice. Feel is almost crisp, softened with a touch of residual sugar. Finish is off dry. Medium carbonation and body.
The malt flavours lack complexity, and bitterness is a touch higher suited for the style, so wouldn't call this benchmark. It's simple, clean, and a sessionable Fall beer, a solid everyday choice.

Pours a very pretty orangy tan with a long lasting, off-white head and strong lacing.
The smell is dark bread and a hint of spice.
The flavor is bready but stronger spice with a long, dry, woody finish.
The mouthfeel is medium bodied and dry.
Overall, some very nice flavors, good strong flavors on the finish.

Can: Poured a clear amber/brown color Oktoberfest with a large off-white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of nice dry cereal notes with some caramel notes. Taste is a mix of nice dry cereal notes, light dry caramel notes with a long dry finale. Body is average for style and good carbonation. Super good level of drinkability with great clean finish.
