Nishi (西) meaning "west" or "western," sets out to capture this modern and emerging beer style that blends the crisp, clean, and light-bodied profile of a traditional German or Czech pilsner with the bold, citrusy, and tropical hop aroma of a west coast IPA. Nishi is a lean and crisp pils with vibrant notes of citrus, resinous pine, and a refreshing bitter finish.

From a 355ml can packaged on Feb 19 2026. Poured into a Pilsner glass. a three finger white head on a clear gold. Good head retention. A solid layer sticks around. Lots of bubbly lacing.

Clean grain smells. The taste follows the nose. with some floral hops. A hoppy finish.

A medium/light body with good carbonation. Overall a clean, hoppy pilsner.

Draft: Poured a clear golden yellow color lager with a large white foamy head with great retention and some lacing. Aroma of cereal notes with some dry resinous hoppy notes and some bitterness. Taste is also a mix of clean cereal notes with some resinous floral dry hoppy notes and a mostly dry bitter finish. Body is about average for style with good carbonation. Great lager but hops tends to make this taste more like a West Coast IPA.

I wasn't initially so impressed, though lots of lasting foaming head and a pilsner aroma, getting dry hop oils and a disparate, as if infused hop flavour in the pils. Quaffable however.
