i liked this one a lot in the beginning, a pale, slightly hazy brew, which i dont normally associate with the kolsch style, looks almost more like a belgian wit or something, a big white head and a soft yellow glow, lemony looking, with an aroma of yeast esters that are pleasant but also kind of uncommon in the style, less obviously and classically german to me right away. its light though, with a minimal body and a brightness about it, drinkable as can be when its cold, even if it is less traditional. it falls apart a bit as it warms up, and at temperature its downright chemical, like a detergent or something, an improperly cleaned vessel maybe, like the beer was racked onto sanitizer or something, definitely a flaw, which is a shame, because there are cool citrus notes to this, a lot of nuance in the grain profile, and its actually quite distinctive as the style goes, but i cant get past these flavors that come out when this warms up, its gross. tale of two beers, nice at first but falls apart later. never seems all that german to me, lemony later on too, not awful all told, but there is some room for tidying up here to be sure...
